Distinguished Talent Visa

I am a Canadian and planning to apply for Distinguished Talent Visa in a Credit Management profession. I completed Certified Credit Professional - CCP designation from Credit Institute of Canada this year. I received two National Awards for Highest Marks: Credit Management (96%) and Advanced Credit Management (99%). More than 500 students across Canada competed for these awards.

I was awarded Recognition Letter, Cash prize, and gift from President of Credit Institute of Canada. Further, my achievement was acknowledged by Credit Institute of Canada by announcing it in Financial Post (Canada's leading national newspaper).

My question is if I can get nomination letter from Australian Institute of Credit Management, what are my chances of getting Distinguished Talent Visa? or is it worth applying?

Thanks and cheers!

Um, distinguished talent is for performers, athletes, etc. You would be more looking for a skilled visa in the area of accounting. What is your degree?

Really! it does say here a Profession, arts, sport, research / academia. I am just wondering what they mean by a Profession then?
Who is this visa for?
This visa is designed for people who are internationally recognised for exceptional and outstanding achievement in:

a profession
•the arts
•sport
•research or academia.
You must still be active in your field of expertise and you will need an eligible person or organisation to nominate you for this visa.

Thanks for your responses!

Not trying to put you down...but my understanding is that it is generally for sports people, but I do recall a film maker or similar managing to get one recently.

I think by your own post "I received two National Awards" that doesn't count as international recognition....sorry

Its a very unusual visa to be looking at and previous threads show they aren't granted easily. Why do you feel that the Australian Institute of Credit Management will be willing to nominate you?

Oh Precious! Distinguished Talent would be someone who is internationally RECOGNISED in their field, be it the Arts, Academia or any other such worthwhile endeavour. Let's be honest - an accounting award is hardly the Nobel Prize is it ?

As for being published in the paper, that's common for accounting [don't know why ?]. The Ozzie papers are full at a certain time of year of "puff" articles listing those who had been admitted to the various Institutes.

Seriously do come to Australia - we LOVE tall poppies...

I have a cycling proficiency badge ...

Should I have used this instead of going to the bother of marrying an Aussie?

It is certainly worth exploring all these options first. I know shortly after I had gotten my skills assessment and taken my IELTS test and collected god knows what else evidence of work experience and lined up referees, my husband casually mentioned that he had succesfully obtained the scouts angling badge when he was 12 and a half. I was mightily pissed I can tell you, could have saved a lot of bother had we been able to apply under his distinguished angling talent.

Yet again a good example of people on this site posting unhelpful and sarcastic replies. If you don't want to be helpful or add anything enlightening to the discussion don't reply with sarcasm and p&^s taking, it really isn't helpful to the OP.

I posted several links above to previous discussions on this particular visa, which may help to clarify details of this visa for the OP. Its almost certainly not the correct one to be going for.

As Polly said, the OP was told this is not the visa for him and what one to look at. She even gave him links. this thread has now become a little lighthearted.

And as for not replying if you don't have anything helpful to add, where's your help for the OP?

I'm sure credit management is not accounting or is it? Isn't it more geared towards the actuarial side or something? Like a mathematician :/

Address your concerns to the OP who appeared to climb their high horse when it was POLITELY pointed out to them that they might not have grasped the nuances of the "Distinguised Talent Visa". After that it's game on as far as I'm concerned.

Do you have a degree?

Also immigration in this country is based on skills shortages and not highly skilled workers. Perhaps if your really good I would consider another country...you will never get the work opps here.

Dale Begg-Smith the canadian moguals skiier came out on a Distinguished talent visa.

I've often wondered if it's how Joe Bugner and Leo Sayer got here  OP could stand a chance if it was. :D
