Distinguised Talent Visa?

Distinguised Talent Visa?
Hi all,
Has anyone had any experience of the distinguised talent visa?
I have a friend who has won a BAFTA, and a BAFTA nominated for another film. Also won awards across the globe and been on BBC2 Culture Show. He has a possible nomination in Australia, but would a BAFTA win be recognised in allowing him to gain a visa?
I think this is going to be tricky one to answer, but then nothing surprises me on BE!
Many thanks in advance!

Re: Distinguised Talent Visa?
Dear Seacaptain,
The DTV is supposed to be for people with an international reputation, but the BAFTA is just British, no? Everyone likes to think they're distinguished so this category of visa is very seductive, sometimes bringing about very sad and misguided delusions, and at the very least your client ought to have a Wikipedia page...

The BAFTA is worldwide and often viewed as the run up to the Oscars. Everyone in the film industry would view a BAFTA as a recognised award, as they do the Golden Globe and an OSCAR.
It's a tricky one, as you say.
Thanks
PS. Wikipedia? I could write one on there about myself!!

Re: Distinguised Talent Visa?
Guys, the point is that people do get knocked back - distinguished talent seems to be tied up with fame and column inches and ego and where the self-belief turns into self-delusion, that's the problem. Sorry, BAFTA only world-wide if you're British; yes, Wikipedia can be self-written but it's a metaphor - blessed are the cheesemakers and all that - for internet hits and fame.
