difference with IT Profession with Specialization or without
Dear members,
is there a significant difference between being assessed as IT Professional with specialization or without it by ACS in term of priorities and processing? in other words, does it really worth the effort to strive to be assessed as IT Professional with specialization? Thanks! |

It was very important when ACS was awarding applicants with and without specialization, in terms of priorities as well but now i don't think any specialization exist, so no use at the moment.
Thanks. |

Hi Shafaqat, is it very hard to do the job that you are doing? I am thinking of doing an IT degree and gain employment in that sector. I am wondering what kind of skills would I need for a job like you do. Do i need to be extremely good at programming? How is the job like? What is a .NET specialist anyway? I know basic java which I learnt when I did a one year diploma in IT but I have forgotten most of it now.
If u want to have a degree along with a parttime job then it would be difficult, i have spent 4 years in study and now 5 years in field, it was a bit hard time at the start but now its just a routine work. Getting a job in this sector not that much difficult and offcourse programming is one of the must have skills in this field. |

Well, i've been trying to find on the internet what is it about to have ACS assessment with specialization and it seems after the latest changes it doesn't matter that much!! .... but anyway, do you have an estimate processing time for a positive assessment from ACS without specialization?
Thanks. |

Thats great, but now after the ACS, what about the immigration? is there like a HUGE deference for applicants with or without specialization?
I am describing the case of IT applicants only. Now there is no CSL so no priority for the applicants with or without specialization, at the moment priority is determined if nominated code is on the new SOL. Would you disclose you occupation and other detail in your signatures? |

I hope u know the term CSL(Critical Skill List), it was introduced in Sep09 and applicatns with specialization were on the CSL and processed quickly where as applicants without specialization were not consider for CSL and were not processed.
