Dear All,

Today my friend emailed to CO & asked about Case status.He is june 09 applicant , within next hour his all docs changed to MET & CO responded him that "Please be patient still some internal checks are in progress"

What is means by Internal Checks? What is diff b/w Internal & External Checks?

I was told that internal check is a background check being done by the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO). Not 100% sure though.

Internal checks are checks that are internal. External checks are checks that are external.

Have you asked DIAC?

As far as I understand it, internal are the going through the application and attached documentation. External are getting information from employers, and if required, national information on the applicant. Could be wrong though.

next appropriate query could be the sequence in which these two things are carried out!
Ofcourse this could be a meaningless question to you!
In my case previously they had confirmed with my employer/Hr manager and raised query concerning form 80 etc(they were saying it "routine processing)
and now they are saying "Internal checks"are underway!
i really WANT to believe that external checks are done(atleast i pray so)

Does it really matter? They are still doing checks on your application, thats all you need to know. Maybe be grateful that your applciation is being worked on and hasn't been affected by todays announcement

We don't know what it includes, it isn't published. Does it matter? If you have nothing in your background to hide there will be no problem. Do you think Australia are going to let people into the country without carrying out some background checks?
