Diabetic Type 1
Hello,
I am type 1 diabetic, and plan to immigrate to Australia in a permanent visa (189) and a bit worry of the medical check. Did anyone have the same and passed??
I know diabetic people pass it in a temporary working visa.
thanks alot,

Having said that, diabetes in itself is not usually a problem when going for PR - we have had many people on here over the years getting PR with the condition.

Thank you Pollyana, this is really good news but I am still a bit confused.
Before posting here I asked popular MARA agent located in Australia and specialized in evaluating medicals. He said, type 1 diabetes may be rejected as the cost of treatment goes over limit, however he could not find cases which are rejected because they are just diabetes without complications.
Now the question is, is evaluating the cases procedure a flexible procedure so the officer has the power to pass cases even if the cost is higher than the limits?

There is simply no way of getting a guarantee over a visa in advance. Maybe try a few different agents and see what the consensus is. But ultimately you will need to take your chances. I personally know somebody who got a PR visa with type 1 diabetes, the husband of my best friend of 35 years, so it is definitely possible. But I have no idea whether there are shades of Type 1 diabetes or otherwise.

Ask one of the agents who specialise in medical conditions - George Lombard or Peter Bollard are the two usually mentioned in this regard. They will know better than anyone else
