Default Daft question - certified copies...

Hi - probably a daft question re certified copies but here goes...

For items such as birth and marriage certificates, did you send the certified copy (ie colour original) from the registry office, or did you photocopy and get the photocopy certified? I know it says not to send originals but as what we have from the registry office is only a certified copy / extract anyway, should we just send that in and not bother with a photocopy?

Thanks

We sent a certified photocopy of the certified copy!!! You won't get whichever you send back so that's cheaper than sending what you have and having to get another later.

Not daft at all - your mind wonders about all the possible variations on what the info could possibly mean/need!

We did as Lou did - got copies of the proper one and sent copies. It's only £7 for new one but its the wait etc.

Good luck!

Thanks folks! Was planning to do exactly that, just finished the photocopying and suddenly had a crisis of confidence as to whether that was the right thing to do!

One of these days they will write an idiots guide in plain english, which leaves no room for doubt or misinterpretation

Nah - we'd still have questions - lol. All language is open to interpretation.
