Default Cost of living comparisons

Hi,

Does anyone know if there are any up-to date cost of living comparisons
between the UK and Oz?

Other than trying some price comparison sites for Aussie goods - there are some links in an article on moving to Oz on the front page - you have the economist's big mac index and the OECD's index on their site. However they are more generalised comparisons. I've been there twice now (Brisbane/Gold Coast/Sunshine Coast/Northern NSW and Brisbane/Melbourne/Great Ocean Road) and have to say that when shopping I generally find things expensive.

I'm on a good salary in London and I think things are expensive there. You need to take into account your local salary there also so I would look at job agency postings on the internet if possible otherwise your comparison will have no context. For me it doesn't look too rosey and will take some adjusting as prices compare in line with the exchange rate but I'd be lucky to get a 1:1 on the wage front.

I think website is excatly what you're looking for. It's based on Perth
prices, but you'll get a good idea.

This one calculates what you should earn in Aus to maintain the same standard of living in UK
