I did it. Just put down the code and name of occupation in your app then tick MODL boxes. Write your CV so that it shows your experience as close to your chosen subcategory (occupation) of 2231-79 as it is possible. Send it to ACS. Don't forget to cross your fingers
That's all
Good luck

Thanks nixxxin - I've got fingers crossed on that and legs crossed that Immigration will let me change my application request for Modl points! so many hurdles to jump!

Have you got the right specialisation then for MODL? Not all 2231-79s qualify if I read it right.

I am hoping to get recognition for specialising in Oracle, the criteria is one year's experience which I have and certification too. Just keeping my fingers crossed.

ACS now has a new on-line system to track progress of an application and are quoting a ten week processing time!! That's increased somewhat. Guess I just got to wait.
What are you applying for hottroc ?

2231-11 or -79 I think.
but there is no way I can get modl as I am not specialised in anything on the list, though I have C&G Lvl 3 in C++ Programming but no (verifiable) experience at that.
I am thinking now of taking my MCSE. It's stuff I already know but I would need to revise all the terminology and parameters and the kind of stuff they ask in these exams.

Hopefully you pick up more points on age than I do - which is why I need MODL points. i have a good number of years experience in IT, most of which is at a broad application and SDLC level as opposed to technical awareness of a single product, although I am familar with the Oracle database and SQL, I've never been an Oracle DBA for example. It all depends on how they determine specialisation.
Where are you hoping to go ? I presume you are seeking the skills Independent Visa ?

No actually possibly not (20 points). Without modl I can't get 120 either but would probably have enough for one of the regional options.

Yes similar here. I do have technical and detailed specialist skills in one or two application products but they're so specialised that most people wouldn't have heard of them. Certainly not on list. I also have some SQL skills but wouldnt consider myself a specialist.

I am thinking of selling my children so I can afford an agent to advise and help!

Where are you hoping to go ?
Anywhere for me. I like warmth and sun but the wife doesn't want to go somewhere tooooo hot so probably south(, maybe near Adelaide?). And you?

It all depends on whether I get the right visa. If its a Skilled Independent then first pref is Brisbane, but happy to go to Perth,or Melbourne. If its a regional, then Maybe Adelaide, however i am still exploring other regional parts to see what they have to offer. Its not that easy to find good information and I am surprised to discover that IT skills are not in big demand in the regions - well I kind of expect that, but to find that there are not many at all? i mean Adelaide isn't too brilliant..and if you need sponsorship and IT is your career then you need a three month job offer!

Will you have to find a job first ? Sorry that sounds bad after what i have just said. i mean I hope you are sorted where you are going

I think I will probably have to find a job first, yes, unfortunately. I really do not mind where I go though as long as it's away from here. Preferably within 20 minutes of a nice beach (..drifts into a slight daydream...)

I haven't really looked a great deal at where to go as I figured I would have to find the job then live near it rather than the other way.
I would quite like to live slightly away from the main cities if possible (within a short drive though) as they look huge when I looked on GoogleEarth.

Me did that, too easy.

I had SYSTEMS MANAGER (that was the closest for DBAs) assessment before and then I got Oracle Specialist which is of course on MODL.

Hottroc - Any experience in Network Security? This seems to me the least 'specialised' specialism that qualifies for MODL points.
