Contributory Aged Parent Visa information required
I need to give my folks some information so they can decide if they will try migrate to Australia.
What are the current processing times for 884 (Temporary Contributory Aged Parent visa)?
What are the current processing times for 864 (Contributory Parent Aged Visa)?
My understanding is that you have to be in Australia to apply for 864 visa - so they would need to fly here on a holiday visa to apply?
If you go the temporary route 864 first ($32900) do you still pay the full amount for the 864 visa ($19750)?
With AOS how much does one have to have earned in the last financial year – there’s conflicting info on internet?
So with regards to AOS – after 10 years you get back money – minus money deducted if parent has claimed any benefits.Is medicare separate and parent can go to GP/Emergency etc or does cost for that come out of AOS as well?
On 864 and 884 is parent is allowed to work?
Is there an upper age limit for contributory aged parent visas?

Tourist visas are supposed to be just that, not to give entry so you can apply for a permanent visa. They run the risk of being turned back at the border if they lie about their intentions to Immigration. Why not just apply for the offshore CPV and they can visit every now and again until their PR is granted?
