hello all,

can anyone advise me regarding qualifications for Skilled Workers Visa? My husband is a senior engineer for a powered access company which is on the new sol and falls i think under Engineer Plant & Production. He has been with the same company for about 5 yras now after leaving the motor trade but has never done any engineering qualification except the courses his company have sent him on (all one and two day coursrs). Engineers Australia (the assessing company) say he needs the equivelent to an AQF Advanced Diploma but someone from a migration agency say's he can have his skilles assessed and get references and proof etc to meet the requirements. We are getting rather confused now. We are ready to set on an agent (if anyone has any to recommend) but need to find out the answer to this question before we start laying out money!

Well, generally I would go by what the assessing body says, after all, they are the ones who decide. BUT, it could be possible that there is some way that could be done to show it is equivalent to an advanced diploma.
If you are after a good agent, George Lombard on here is very good.
