Default Classroom assistant???

Hi,

Hoping I can get some help.

I'm long way from applying yet.

Planning to do a PGDE course in Primary Teaching starting August. I have a degree which will get me on a course...

Two questions:

1) Is PGDE acceptable for the purposes of visa application (I read somewhere here that it might only be a four year BEd course???)

2) Whilst studying I was planning to work as a classroom assistant to gain nessessary "recent work experience". I don't see "classroom assistant" on SOL and not sure if this occupation would be acceptable (it is closely related to the nominated one though...)

Thanks a lot for your help.

1) Yes a PGDE is acceptable for a skills assessment for a visa application, as long as its a one year initial teachertraining qualification.

2) No, working as a Classroom asssistant would not be recognised as recent work experience for visa purposes.

Thanks very much,

Does the occupation I use for the recent work experience need to be listed on SOL?

Thanks again

yes- basically if you are having your skills assessed as a teacher your recent work experience needs to be teaching.

hi,
I have had a positive skills asessement using my pgce. What you need to be aware of is that scitt training -classroom based training- is not recognised. It needs to be uni based with classroom experience.
Hope this helps
