Default Citizenship - what do I need?

Really hope someone can help us.

Fimnally, after nearly 6 years, we can apply for Aus Citizenship from the 18/11and really want to get the ball rolling.

Only thing is, we've just looked on the DIAC website for the last hour to try and ascertain what you need to do/send in order to put together an application - just cannot work it out!!.

Now we should be old hands at this now but either visa fatigue or a few too many Chardonnays have bought us down - we're none the wiser what we need to do - fill in an online application yes but do we need police checks again etc, the documentation checklist seems hopeless.

So can anybody please be kind enough to tell us what we need to do and what DIAC need to see?

I was thinking the same thing for our application but after all the hassle it took to get our visa, I only have to go to the DIAC site and I break out into a cold sweat. We can apply on 8th March next year, I have heard it can take months and months

And I dont even have any Chardonnay!

Depends on the workload at the office you apply to, how often your council has ceremonies, and whether DIAC stuff you about and lose the paperwork

Sam we applied on March 31st, did our test May 25th and had our ceremony on Sept 6th, BUT we appear to live in Whoop Whoop and have to wait for the test guy to come down from Perth (every 4 weeks), and then again for Shire to hold a ceremony. Just depends on the individual shire but it won't be anywhere near as long as you waited for your visa that's for sure!

Just did our online application yesterday, which was easy, then read that they want ALL the guff again like birth certs, marriage certs, copies of passports, ultility bills, Form 1195, endorsed photos, etc Seeing it is the third time in 4 years we have given them these, it seems like a bit of a jobs-worth job to me.

Anyway, if you want it, suposse you have to follow their rules.

Our passports had expired too so no problem there. Oh and the first thing he did when we went for the test was to scan all the original documents into his pc, and took a photograph!!

I found it pretty straightforward although you do have to upload some documents again.. Applied online on 5th October, I did the test on November 8 and got approved the same day which I though was very efficient! Have had my confirmation letter already as well and just waiting for a ceremony date now.
