If we all turned round and said "ÿes you'll have it in a week" we'd be raising false hope. There are other places that give fluffier replies and people then end up disappointed, but the BE Immi forum is not about that, its about facts, and truth, and warning of the worst case scenario, just in case.....
Soz, don't worry, I'm a realist and don't expect it to be instant. My bad, sorry but reading a few of the replies, that's how I felt at the time I read them. I take it back, sozzy once again lol

It's been fairly difficult having only half of our wee 'family' as a citizen, and for those with children, having the WHOLE FAMILY citizens, except for the mother/wife! Thank goodness the government has finally seen sense!

Thanks people x Oh and HAPPY NEW YEAR once again x
This is precisely why some people have stopped answering questions in the immi forum.

If we hadn't made the Australia Day ceremony then it would have been March /April for the next ceremony but whether that is here in Brisbane only or everywhere I'm not sure?

Every council is different - some have ceremonies more often than others.

My friend did her test 1st week in October and doesn't have her ceremony until March - Australia day was full up

On another note - if my family do apply for the test and do it soonish, can we leave the country ( we have booked a cruise for March & my daughter is planning a trip to the USA in May). We have been told by different people that once we do the actual test then we have to leave and enter Australia on an Aussie passport.

Any help would be much appreciated (and sorry Jenny for hijacking your thread )

Thanks, Lynn x

You have been told wrong. Until you have your citizenship ceremony you are not a citizen, so you must travel on a foreign passport with a valid returning visa.
