In theory. No official advice yet.

Yep - Border website is unchanged not surprisingly. Can't see the Liberals wanting to sing and dance about this. Nevertheless, we've started to put our online application online together now :-)

The senate disallowed the proposed changes.
Amusingly recent applications were (are?) being processed under the now disallowed changes.

Not sure if you realise, but the link you posted is 6 months old. The subject matter of your linked article was discussed at some length on British Expats at the time the proposed changes were mooted.

I think what the OP is looking for is official (Australian Government) advice for prospective citizenship applicants.

That's not correct. All citizenship applications affected by the proposed changes have been placed on hold since the announcement in April until such time legalisation could be passed to put the proposals into law. Since this has now failed all such applications should now start being processed under the existing rules. That was the point the OP was making.

Update on Border website - good news for my family and hopefully many others left in limbo by this
Now stating that new changes won't come into effect until July 18

What's new for Australian citizenship

Does anyone have any idea what "a requirement for applicants to demonstrate their integration into the Australian community" means?

Applicants will need to demonstrate their integration into the Australian community by providing, for example, documentation to the effect that people who can work are working, or are actively looking for work or seeking to educate themselves; that people are contributing to the community by being actively involved in community or voluntary organisations; that people are properly paying their taxes and ensuring their children are being educated. Applicants’ criminal records and adherence to social security laws are also relevant

Come to my place. I made lemon meringue tarts today.

On a thread related note, I feel for the people stuck with the DIBP's constant changing of the goalposts.
