Default Child visa subclass 101 done recently?

We have just applied for a child visa for my husband's 17 year old son to join us in Oz next year. Anybody done it recently? How long did it take and was it a straightforward process etc? We have the necessary consent in the form of a statutory declaration from the biological mother and she did sign a certain DIAC form.

London are usually fairly quick with 101 visas (or at least they have been) but every case is different. Fortunately, on the 101, age is locked as long as application is made before age 18, as far as I understand. He still needs to stay single, etc.

Parental consent isn't usually needed for 16 and 17 year olds from the UK, as they are free under the law to make their own decisions as to where they want to live. But if it was given, it should not do any harm. The risk is they may start looking for a copy of mother's ID documentation ...

The other big complication can arise if he didn't do medicals when you originally migrated (if you are migrants originally) ... was that sorted out at the time?

Thanks for your reply.

This is vlooi's husband answering here. We have a copy of the mothers ID, (not a passport as she has no passport) and he did do medicals with our original application as a NON-migrating dependant at that stage.
