Default Cheesed off! July 2007 applicant.

Hi
Has anyone else had the same problem?
I am a 47 year old electrician,I applied in July 2007 and am still waiting for PR Visa.
When I applied i was on the CSS list now I`m not,I then applied for State sponsorship which we got.
Now they moved the posts again we are about 4th or 5th in priority how ever you read it!
IE: I`m state sponsored but not on skills list
So I emailed them again to find out if they could enlighten us and tell us where we are in" THE PIPELINE" and they basically said either get employer sponsored or it could be 2012 before visa is issued!
Now I appled before my 45 birthday I`m now 47,I could be 50 before I receive visa! also what about the medicals and xrays we have already paid for how long are they eligible for?
Im not being funny but if we hadnt forked out so much money and time we would have told them to stick it up there arse!
And the " IF,AND OR Forms"dont get me started.
We have been waiting long enough now so we are going to get on with our lives and get a bigger house in the UK.

Cool Re: Cheesed off! July 2007 applicant.

We're cheesed off July 08. My OH will be 47 next July and we're doing exactly the same as you - looking for a bigger house here and trying to forget. To be honest since we made that decision I feel much better, like lifes finally moving on even though it might not be in the direction we thought it would. We've left the application running, and will make a decsion if it ever gets approved.

Good luck whatever turn your life takes.

Mandi

Hi Mandi
yes we felt better when we decided to move on, what will be will be(maybe)
I was fed up being in limbo mode, not knowing wether to sell the house,my boy is 18 and he is waiting to go into the Raf but we told him to hang on, my daughter 16 we told her not to carry on at six form the list is endless.
I dont know what other people think but it seems to me like one big SCAM.
I cant imagine how much money they take in off people from all over and make them wait years,my opinion is they are bureaucratic halfwit jobsworths.
God I sound so negative

Roughly 110 thousand applications times roughly 22 hundred dollars fee per application equals roughly quarter of a billion dollars - in a skilled migration stream alone, going by the 09-10 planning levels. Amazing, innit?

Sorry but where did you get the figure of 110,000 applications for skilled migration from?

Immigration site, factsheet 20 "planning levels" says 108,100 places are planned for skilled migration stream in 2009-2010 - I gather that may be several visa types, but it specifically excludes family sponsored migration. Why?

Whilst I can understand the pain of being in limbo, the reality is that DIAC meet its planned migration places figures. Another way to look at that is, if there were not so many applicants for a specific number of places you would get your visa quicker.

Sorry but the Critical Skills list didn't exist in July 2007, so you couldn't have been on it, do you mean you were on MODL? What delayed your application by so much that you were still waiting 2 years later when the priority of processing changed? Are you from a High Risk Country?

Critical skills list introduced in January 2009, I do know my facts and actually did apply in July 2007 so am very well aware of the visa requirements at that time.

M question was not are you from the UK but are you from a High Risk or Low Risk country? This has a significant impact on the processing time and therefore is relevant, if you are from a HR country then long waits should have been expected.

No, you don't know. The CSL was introduced in January 2009. In July 2007 you may have been on MODL, but not CSL.

Have you tried ringing ASPC to see if there is a problem with your application? Have you checked your email spam filter to make sure no emails from your case officer have been sent there? Loads of people have had that exact thing happen to them - visas granted but they don't know because the grant letter is sitting in their spam filter.

You were being asked if you were from a high risk or low risk country simply so people could advise you better on why it might be taking so long for your visa to be decided. If you don't want to answer that's fine, but there really is no need to be rude about it. People here are only trying to be helpful.

Centurion is actually originally from UK but is now living in Australia, having applied for and been granted a visa. Just like a lot of us here who volunteer our time to help others.

I would suggest you take a read of the site rules particularly rule 1 before posting again. It is unnecessary for you to be rude when people are trying to help.

It is actually a bit weird that OP has not got visa yet considering applied July 2007, he has been on the CSL (albeit only for a few months) and also has state sponsorship which did mean something until recently. Was there no contact whatsoever during this time? *puzzled*

Dear disbelievers
Sorry if you felt I was being rude!.But and this will be the last time ill say it I was on the CRITICAL SKILLS LIST(I AM A ELECTRICIAN FROM THE UNITED KINGDOM)as was a huge amount of other trade skills.
Let me give you a little more information:-
My wife turned inexpectantly pregnant shortly after applying in July07,we had to wait till march08 to have xrays etc, then DIAC were not happy with work history I sent, even though I my skill were passed by TRA!
So i sent a reference from an employer when I was working in another country for 2 years(2000-02) with 6 trips a year back to UK,just to prove my work history ,so thy deemed this as my residence and asked me to supply them with a police checkbearing in mind this was a corrupt third world european country were the police took bribes etc, anyway I couldnt get one so I had to go personally to australia house London to declare that I was a saint and not a criminal (that rings a bell) in Dec 08.
Im now on my third case officer which is not uncommon apparently,oh and let me just say how incompetant I think some of the staff are at the Adelaide DIAC.
