No you do all the legwork he collects the fee.

Ours were done by a local JP he didn't charge but I offered a donation to his fav. charity he then said he considered it his duty as a magistrate to do it for free. He also wrote a small character ref and included all his contact numbers address etc. very good of him indeed.

I've scanned my documents and printed them out on a colour printer ready for certification. Does this make any difference? or am I just being anal?

Actually, having an electronic copy of important documents is quite a good idea, so my time wasn't wasted - I think.

No so long as the solicitor has the original to compare....

Actually I'm thinking of giving up my job as an employed solicitor working 9 to 5, to go into business certifying documents for potential emigrants. Seems like I'd make a fortune judging by the number of enquiries on this forum

Hi, I'm new to this and just about to submit an application for a prospective marriage visa, and a little confused about certified copies.

Someone mentioned to me that I might be able to take my application into Australia House, London and they can certify copies from the original documents, is this true?

Also, I'm assuming it's only things like passports, birth certificates etc that need certified copies, not any of the other stuff like copies of utility bills etc.

I more thing, the application states I have to provide 2 Statutory Declarations 2 people with knowledge of our relationship, but being a prospective marriage visa, I'm applying from the UK, do I still use the Australian Stat Decl, and if so, who can witness it?

Thank you in advance
