CERTAIN FAMILY VISAS CLOSED
Hi all, I dont know if this post makes me the bearer of bad news or not but remember dont shoot the messenger lol
im not sure if anyone else has seen the recent update on the 2nd June 2014 regarding the closure of certain family visa routes.
I received notification as follows, and thought id share for those that were thinking of applying in the routes below...
On 2 june 2014 the Department of immigration closed a number of family migration visas so it is no longer possible to lodge an application for remaining relative, Carer, Aged Dependant Relative or non- contributory parent visa (the slow cheap one). Existing applications are not affected by this closure, so if you had already lodged an application it will continue to be processed.
The closures were part of a plan to focus the Family Migration Programme on partners and children of Australian citizens and Permanent residents, and parents who can contribute financially to their migration and settlement.
The Contributory Parent visa is still available for parents of Australian Citizens and permanent
residents who want to migrate to Australia and there are two dierent pathways to apply:
1. Apply rst for a temporary visa, and then convert this to permanent residency after two years
- Contributory Parent (Temporary/Provisional).
2. Apply directly for permanent residency - Contributory Parent (Permanent/Migrant). The
temporary visa is a great pathway for parents who may not have all the funds for the
permanent visa, as it eectively splits the large second VAC payment and Assurance of
Support bond payment over a 3 to 4 year period (based on current processing times).
Temporary visa holders would have access to Medicare and full work and travel rights for 2 years from grant. During this period they can
apply to convert to the permanent visa, at which time the balance second VAC and the Assurance of Support bond must be paid.
BEST OF LUCK TO ALL APPLYING AND I HOPE YOU FIND A WAY
