If you are nearly at the end of the 2 years I'd proceed with the permanent residency visa as soon as you are able. Once the visa has been granted you are a free agent.

Note that your likely permanent residency visa pathway won't require a State Nomination (as was the case when the subclass 495 visa was introduced).

If you'd like to discuss further you can reach me via our Perth office on 08 9261 7762.

Best regards.

if you come on this it is very hard to get any credit ie morgage, bank loan so come with enough to last ie car rent deposit. you have to stay in an area for 2 years and work for 1 year. The job doesnt have to be as the skills you quoted but as close to it as possible is OK.
we have found out that you could move out of that area but you have to stay away from the main cites. so in WA is OK for us.
It doesn't take long for the two years (2 months to go) and then there are 3 ways to permanent.
these require a fee of about $200.
So the visa is OK because it gets you here but the down side is the waiting for residency.
you don't get medicare but we have found that if you go to the hospitals they treat you free because back in england they treat the Australians the same.
if you want more info on this email me

wow, thanks for the info. It's al a lot to take in at the start, once you've decided which visa to take (or should that be which is possible), then you can at least research that 1 particular visa, but at the moment trying to research all of the ones that might be a 'goer' is proving mind boggling BUT will not give up. Just keep pouring the red wine!!!!!! lol.
thanks again,
Donna.

If so, you may be interested to know that you can in fact apply for (say) a subclass 175 visa before your 2 years of required residency are complete - so long as you can meet the requirements (and are happy to pay for) a new offshore skilled visa.

Best regards.
you see now it's all sounding a bit too technical for me!!!!!!

so in VERY layman's terms, whats the difference between a 457 and a 475, and also an ens.
As stated earlier, OH is pain in arse, and also flat glass tradesperson. And we where looking at brisbane area (maybe Caloundra or Caboolture), forgot to mention we have 3 kids under 10, and a dog!!!! Will this make a difference.
Sorry to be such a pain.
thank you.

In short, they are different visa types with differing requirements and different outcomes.

The answers are available on the immi website - or contact a competent migration agent.

Best regards.

Is this a sept change? I thought you couldn't apply for a perm visa whilst in the first 2 yrs of SIR (with only a very few exceptions)

Would the new 175 require the full 2 yrs before applying for PR

Talking Re: Can't get skills visa!!!!Heeeeeeeeelp please.

YOU CANT APPLY FOR THE FIRT TWO YEARS ON A 495 BUT YOU CAN RE-APPLY FOR OTHER VISAS AT MORE COST.
THE 495 IS AFTER TWO YEARS AND 1 YEAR FULLTIME EMPLOYMENT.
IS ANYBODY ELSE ON THE SAME AS US?
