Unhappy Can't get skills visa!!!!Heeeeeeeeelp please.

Am struggling with visa's?????:curse: Have been disappointed not to get independent skills visa.....only 110 points. Have been in touch with an agent who have spoken of 457 visa, and the ENS visa. Other than the obvious one is perm and one is temp....what are the other pro's n con's.
We have 3 kids...and I dog, and would hate to be on a temp visa, but we aren't sure on how difficult getting a ENS visa will be. Agent seems to think getting OH skills assessed would be ok-but tra on hold at minute??????
Please please help, am getting greyer by the day!!
cheers

Would probably be easier for people to help you if we knew what skills you both have!

OK, I don't know anything about glazing so can't help there. If you are sponsored you have to work for that employer, if it doesn't work out you get some time (28days?) to find another. If you have perm residency you are eligible for some benefits I think & don't have to pay for state schooling.
If you don't get any replies from any of the agents who are on here, probably worth sending out a pm. (Tony Coates, Allan Collett for example)
Have you tried getting advice from more than one agent? First consultations are usually free!

Good luck & welcome to BE!

PS Immigration forum may be better for this query, you could ask one of the moderators to move it for you!

If you have 100 points you are eligible for state sponsorship for a 475 visa. Has anyone mentioned this to you? It might be the agent has looked into this, but Check out the DIAC website and read about this visa. Then check out the links to the state occupation lists. If Glazier is on there, that State will sponsor you.

Hope this helps and good luck!

State sponsorship and a 457 are completely different Fly Away.

State sponsorship = perm from day one
457 = temp visa

Regional state sponsorship RSMS or SIR may also be available and are perm from day one.

Speak with a reputable agent that you can trust. George Lombard, Tony Coates or ALan Collett who all post on here will be able to advise you fruther.

You will probably still have to get skills assessed though so be prepared for this.

Hi Donna,

Best start by sending one of the recommended agents your hubby's CV. I'm happy to comment.

Donna,

Don't knock "only 110 points" - some would be delighted to have that many!

A State Sponsorship would open up the possibility of a subclass 176 visa, or the provisional subclass 475 visa. If you are relaxed about where you want to live in Australia (at least initially) look at Tasmania and South Australia at first instance:
http://www.development.tas.gov.au/migration/ss.html
http://www.immigration.sa.gov.au/pdf...rovisional.pdf

I haven't had a look at the other State and Territory Government Wanted Skills Lists, so maybe investigate these too if you are interested in (say) WA, VIC, etc.

Feel able to contact us for a freebie chat too:

Best regards.

Donna,

I had a look around on some websites for you.

Glazier or Flat Glass Tradesperson (4982-11) is on Skilled Regional Sponsored (SIR - sc 475) list for: WA and NT

and on Skilled Sponsored (STNI - sc 176) list for: NT

Hi
I am on a 475 visa in Broome WA and it is ok but there are some things you need to know before you go ahead.
if you come on this it is very hard to get any credit ie morgage, bank loan so come with enough to last ie car rent deposit. you have to stay in an area for 2 years and work for 1 year. The job doesnt have to be as the skills you quoted but as close to it as possible is OK.
we have found out that you could move out of that area but you have to stay away from the main cites. so in WA is OK for us.
It doesn't take long for the two years (2 months to go) and then there are 3 ways to permanent.
these require a fee of about $200.
So the visa is OK because it gets you here but the down side is the waiting for residency.
you don't get medicare but we have found that if you go to the hospitals they treat you free because back in england they treat the Australians the same.
if you want more info on this email me

Clyve,

Are you on a subclass 475 visa, or a subclass 495 visa? I have a hunch it might be the latter (the Skilled Independent Regional (Provisional) visa) as the 475 subclass is one of the new categories of visa which can only be applied for from 01/09/2007.

If so, you may be interested to know that you can in fact apply for (say) a subclass 175 visa before your 2 years of required residency are complete - so long as you can meet the requirements (and are happy to pay for) a new offshore skilled visa.

Best regards.
