Cant get reference
I seriuosly hope someone out there can give me some advice.
I have a former employer who point blank refuses to give me a letter of reference. The trouble is that without this reference I cant make a successfull tra application. His excuse is that he's depressed and cant be bothered to deal with it. Now, this company made me redundant back in dec '03. I'd only been working for them since jan '03. Here's the dodgy part: My letter of redundancy stated that I was made redundant due to a down turn in bussiness, however, they kept on other guys who'd been working there for less time that me and who lived more conveniently to the office. I was not notified of my redundancy until a letter turned up in the post a week before christmas.
I think he does not want to give me the reference as I might take him him to a tribunal. What I need to know is if I can legally force this reference out of him by taking him to a tribunal?
As you can imagine, I'm enfuriated by this plonker.

Contact a TRA specialist consultant like
Glenn Newton [email protected]
John Nye [email protected]
It may not be a problem with DIMIA either as you could technically show 12/18 and 3/4 recent and specific work experience from other periods of emplyment unless you have too much unemplyment in there.

We're using John as our agent ( Top bloke ). I'm just getting other opinions.
John is really helpfull, he answers all our emails promptly and even spent a few hours at my home discussing our application when he was here in the uk recently!
I'm just leaving all my options open.

Thanks Tony
I think i'll give John (another) a call and see what he suggests.
I did not actually realise how well know and well recommended he is. All I can say is, thank God he's on my side!

Please let him sort out our TRA application first!!!
we've had a 'problem' with ours and Johns working on it (not at this very second i hope cause it's very early hours over there) now! he's awaiting the TRA's phone call about it!
as you can see from our ticker we've been waiting a while now especially as we paid priority!!!!!

Hi there, if it is of any help - you would have had to have applied to an employment tribunal within 3 months of your dismissal. As it is so long ago he hasn't got anything to fear from this, perhaps this will help?
