Can you pause the 417 visa if you have to leave Aus unexpectedly?

Hello everyone. I'm 32, have the 417 working holiday visa currently and spent January to June in Australia. I had work commitments overseas July to September and was planning to go back to Australia in October and finish my 417. However due to sudden family illness I'm not going to be able to go back this year but I'm gutted to miss out on the rest of my visa. I appreciate it's a long-shot, but has anyone heard of someone being able to pause/hold their visa, to finish it off another time?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear of the illness in your family. Unfortunately it's not possible to pause/hold a 417

You can travel outside Australia and return as many times as you want while this visa is valid.
Time spent outside Australia after the visa is activated does not extend the visa.

Thanks for your reply. Ok, that's a shame. I know that Irish, French, Canadian can get a second working holiday visa up to the age of 35. Does anyone know if this may be extended to English people?

To be eligible to apply for a second 417 you need to have completed 3 months of specified work in a designated regional area during your first 417. This also applies to Irish, French and Canadian applicants. https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visa...specified-work
Sorry, I seem to be continually giving you bad news.

They are potentially scrapping that requirement so check back.
