Default can you help!

I have a full skilled visa to perth wa. i have two daughters aged 17 and 20 who are both included in that visa.. if they dont live permanently in oz, when we get citizenship will they automatically get this aswell or will they have to apply as individuals.we are going july 08..visa runs till 2011..also how long do you have to be resident before applying for citizenship..boring but any help would be really great

once you have two years of residence on your passport you are eligible to apply for citizenship. The two years doesn't neccessarily need to be concurrent either.

thanks for that...still so confused the government site now says 4 years after july 2007..

Yes, it's 4 years if you haven't validated your visa already.

Your daughters would need to make their own citizenship applications.

thanks wendy validated visa in october 2006 so it should be two years..thanks for you help..chatty66

just curious to know, if anyone validate in this month (JULY 2007), they still need 4 years or 2 years?

You needed to have validated before the new rules came in, which was on July 1st. So you would have needed to be here before midnight on the 30th June.

Anyone validating this month will come under the new rules, which is 4 years.

Only if you can clock up the 2 years and apply for citizenship on or before 30 June 2010. After that it's a 4 year rule, even if you validated before 1 July 2007.

If you make the full move in July 2008, this may not be possible.
