Smile can i get a visa . dad is oz citizen ??

Hi

I'm 25 and I want to move to Perth WA. I used to work in a travel agents a d the past 6 years an office job so don't think I have any chance on any working skilled visas....

However my dad and step mum live in Perth and have done for 5-6 years. They now have aus citizenship , I also have my step sister there n her husband who are aus citizens. Do I have any chance at all of getting intoaustralia with these people sponsoring me I feel it's my only chance.

If anyone can help thank you very much

Then your best chance of a visa would be for your partner to apply for skilled migration and you come as his de facto - assuming you have 12 months or more of living together.

Family sponsorship is worth very little these days. You'd only be able to apply for a provisional visa using FS. If your partner's occupation is on SOL schedule one, then it'd be best to go for general skilled migration, as Pollyana has suggested. Have a look at the 189 (independent PR visa), or 190 (sponsored PR visa - if you want to be sponsored by a state).

No your dad being there is not going to help your chances much even if at all. Your best chance is through your partner.

Hi Gemma,

In fact it's still possible for people to apply for a temporary subclass 489 visa sponsored by a family member so your father may have a role to play, see http://www.immi.gov.au/skills/skills.../subclass-489/ and if you click through to "Sponsors" and then "designated areas" you'll see that Perth still qualifies for family sponsorship. In fact apart from parts of NSW and Queensland, everywhere in Australia qualifies.

Interesting thread. Gemma don't forget that you can find capable agents online :-)

Cheers,

George Lombard AFMIA
