Default Can anyone help with an example RPL form?

Hi all. I see that lots of people ask for help filling out this form - in particular
an example form. I have found one post that showed an example of the project
management section, which was helpful, but I would be really grateful if anyone could
send me a full form.

I see someone called AMS has been really helpful to others on this front, so if
you're out there AMS, can you please send me what you have?

I have emailed anyone who has asked for this stuff previously, but so far nobody has
been able to help. Sorry if the emails bothered anybody, but I'm desparate.

Thanks in advance for your time. Regards. Damian.

I think you will be very lucky to get someone to send you there complete form. A lot of hard work goes into them and nobody will want to stuff up their chances at the ACS or DIMA by letting someone else apply with more or less the same explanations. Plagiarism as a problem, was mentioned to me when I went to see the ACS.
The "project management" section I posted should point you in the right direction.

Damian,

I don't think that someone's forms will really be helpful, because you need to use
your experience. But if you want some pointers, I'll hekp. I've already filled out 3
RPL forms, so I'm somewhat of an expert by now (2 of which were approved, one still
waiting for answer).

If you send me your resume with your experience, I can help you fill yours out. I
can do a first draft of it with what you wrote on the resume, and then you can
improve on it.

Email me.

Normally I would say use the seach engine...but I must be in a good mood....

I filled out these sections :

1 Computer Organisation and Architecture X
2 Conceptual Modeling X
3 Database Management X
4 Data Communications and Networks
5 Data Structures and Algorithms
6 Discrete Mathematics
7 Ethical/Social Implications/Professional Practice X
8 Interpersonal Communications X
9 Program Design and Implementation X
10 Project Management X
11 Security X
12 Software Engineering and Methodologies X
13 Systems Analysis and Design
14 Systems Software X

Here is an example of what I wrote for the project management part, all sections were similar in length :

XXX (a company I worked for in the past), sole business was developing and selling their project management system, called XXX. Working on a project management system helped me to learn about the different aspects of managing a project and gave me a better understanding of the whole project cycle. The Software Engineering Institute (SEI) methodology and standards I learnt at XXX gave me a better understanding of the importance of quality assurance. I personally think that a lot of companies shun the quality aspects of software. XXX ,(in my opinion) seem to want to get code out too fast these days and I come across problems almost daily that should have been picked up in simple quality assurance tests. Still, it seems to work for them. Software QA involves the entire software development process - monitoring and improving the process, making sure that any agreed-upon standards and procedures are followed, and ensuring that problems are found and dealt with. I have been involved in many types of QA testing for example, black box testing with XXX, integration testing with customized XX code and XXX, system testing at all sites I work at, this usually covers all combined parts of a system and is similar to black box testing. I do quite a bit of load, stress and performance testing for XXX clients. We normally use a product called XXX these days to do our stress and performance testing. XXX itself has recently included a ?Network Test? form (Please see screen dump attached). The Network Test consists of a latency test and a bandwidth test. Latency is the time it takes for a single packet to make a round trip from your client side application to the server. The bandwidth test examines the data rate to see how many bytes per second your network can transfer from the server to the client. I have never had a position as a project manager and I tend to shy away from this, as I prefer a more technical role. I do see myself as a mini-project manager on some of my tasks, for example upgrading an XXX for a client takes some managerial skills, ie. planning, scheduling, tasking and testing.

Yes, I got a positive assessment.

Silly question perhaps but ... did you actually write all that in the boxes on the form or did you just write a seperate sheet for each topic?

Until I've searched this forum today, I was foolishly under the impression that you just filled in the boxes but I've had a rude awakening after searching for 'ACS RPL'.
After spending a couple of weeks doing my reports, references, etc I thought I was ready to send the lot off this week. Guess again!

I'm using an agent but they don't specifically help with ACS, just the visa app itself, which looks an absolute doddle after this anyway.

Ho hum.

I wouldn't bother filling in the boxes on the form. I wrote approx. 11/13 pages of 'shite' altogether.

I didn't bother with an agent for that reason. All agents do, in my opinion, is charge you to ask you questions on your life in order to write down what you have just told them ! And they charge a lot.

Good luck...remember the key to RPL is lots and lots of experience examples and references if you are lucky enough to have collected them over the years.

Well that's another problem actually. My previous employer went out of business in 1998 and I'm struggling to get hold of anything that actually proves I worked for the company at that time. I have a couple of memos and company pension statements but not contracts, pay slips or references. Even my current employer doesn't have a reference from that previous one on file - t's gone AWOL.
I do know the whereabouts of a guy who was a manager there, although I didn't actually work for him. If he wrote a reference for me, would it be accepted by ACS? I asked ACS this 2 weeks ago and have had no reply (no surprise there then).
I have found a linked company in Germany that might have some Personnel records but it's proving difficult getting anything out of them either. I'm going to try them again today, even if it's a basic 'he worked for us between dates A and B' it's better than nothing right?

Thanks for help so far.

Dear Whoever,

See Ausivisa's IT Professionals [RPL] e-kit.

Please note that all RPL applicants MUST now submit two Project Reports in addition to the RPL form.

The Project Reports should focus on two specific projects - preferably with different employers - in which you can demonstrate specialist knowledge of a selection of CBOK subjects [see Part 3 of the AusiVisa e-kit].

Most applicants should be able to include references to the three professional [i.e.non-technical] CBOK subjects such as:

 Interpersonal Communication
 Project Management and Quality Assurance
 Ethics/Social Implications/Professional Practice

e-service 8: http://www.ausivisa.com/ausiv/servic...page=service_8 can help if required.

The ACS Project Report specifics can be found at the end of the latest RPL application form downloadable from www.acs.org.au [please note that their website is playing up today].

We look forward to helping you further, and invite any feedback.

Best regards.

I managed to get a reference from my first employer in 1987...all it said was, "X worked for us as a programmer from this date to that date" and it was on company letterheaded paper (which is really what they are after). I also got a bloke I know who still works for a company in France (whom I did not work for, the bloke that is not the company) to write much the same thing on some company letterheaded paper and also gave the ACS old contracts, bank statements anything I could find....I had the advantage of working around the corner from them though, so I actually brought all this stuff into their office. Alot of people have the same reference problem, especially from the UK where references aren't really bothered with in the IT industry as they are usually not worth the paper they are written on.

I managed to speak to a very nice German lady yesterday from a parent company and she has posted me a reference saying 'Wayne worked for company X between A and B'. Thanks Tanja!
Now on to those reports......
