Default Bridging visa to student visa?

Hi. I've a friend living in Perth on a 12 month working holiday visa expiring in November 2014. They want to get a student visa to enrol on a Post Grad teaching course in February 2015. Can they apply for a bridging visa for the period between November and February so that they can continue to work?

They have not done their 3 month rural work to then extend their working holiday visa for another 12 months.

Can someone advise please.

Thanks
GG

Bridging visas cannot be applied for by themselves, they just occur automatically when someone lodges a substantive visa application for a onshore visa.

Thanks Bermudashorts, so if they apply onshore for a student visa, I assume that will count as a substantive visa.

I believe so. Once they apply, they will soon know.
