Bridging Visa to 176 Application
Hi,
I am currently in Perth, WA on a 457 visa. Five days ago, I made an online application for a 176 state sponsored visa [WA]. Am I right in thinking that in submitting a 176 application, I am now on a 010 subclass Bridging Visa until a decision is made in respect of the 176 application ? My reason for asking is that I have an offer from another company and rather than transferring the 457 visa, I could just hand my notice in and join the new company ? I am currently waiting for a CO to be allocated. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks |

176 is an offshore visa, I dont think you will get a bridging visa for it. Hoping any senior member can confirm this.

Re: Bridging Visa to 176 Application
As joojay stated, Visa 176 is an offshore visa and therefore you will not have a bridging visa granted. In any event, a bridging visa only comes into operation when your substantive visa expires. In your case the 457. A bridging visa takes on the requirements of the substantive visa so you would be required to remain with your current employer.

Re: Bridging Visa to 176 Application
Okay thanks. I have been offered another position [again, sponsored] so would I have to transfer my 457 [which I have done before] and would it be okay to do so given that I have applied for a 176 ?
