Default Bricklayer sponsorship in Perth

Hi, been in Australia for 2 weeks and loving it. I have been working for a bricklaying company in perth for over a week now. I am aware that bricklayers have been taken off the wanted trades on the skills list but is my employer able to sponsor me??

If he's an approved sponsor and your skill is on the list of eligible jobs and you both meet the criteria then yes, he can sponsor you.

Does your employer want to sponsor you after you've only worked for him for a week?

I havn't asked yet but another lad who started the same day as me asked the boss the day we started and my boss said ask him again in a months time, so it gives him time to see what hes like etc. Which is what I will do, i was just wondering if it could be done though as bricklaying is no longer on the wanted skills list?

True it is not on the SOL, but it is on the CSOL and therefore is eligible for sponsorship by state or employer.

I'd Wait til you've tried laying bricks all day in 38 degrees C before asking if the y'll sponsor you

Thanks for that guys.

I have been here on my 1st year WHV and laid bricks between October - April so I can how unberable it can get but its far better than laying bricks in -2 in the pissing rain day after day after day in the UK for 7 pounds an hour!
