Bond required?
 

Hi,
I was reading thru'austimeline.com and found that a few of the
Skilled-Independent applications who have their applications approved
mentioned that they have to pay a bond.
Can anyone explain what this bond is about? I thought it only applies
to sponsored categories?

Hi Lewis
we are excepting to pay the bond, briefly it is in our case because we lost points because of our ages, hubby is 38 i am 37, so to claim the 5 bonus points we will have to invest AU$ 100,000 into a government investment bond for a year, you then get the monies back with so much of the interest earnt. if you need further clarification type in 'bond' in the search box and it will bring up other threads,

Skilled sponsored applicants sometimes need to invest in one of these
bonds to get to the pass mark too, although it's less usual. Even
where a skilled sponsored applicant invests the AUD100k in a state
government bond, the assurer must still lodge a separate bond to cover
welfare costs.

It's called an Assurance of Support. A$3000 1st applicant, A$1500 for 2nd applicant.
