Default bond request

Hello , we have found this forum really helpful and need some advice on how easy it is to send the bond money, as we are getting ourselves in a right muddle. I am sure it is a lot easier than it looks and it just me panicking , we have had a few problems along the way so it's great to get to this stage , so any help would be much appreciated.

Hi H&C,

Just a quick question. Is that the assurance of Support Bond or the $100K Bond?

Hi again Helen & Cliff.

We have no personal knowledge of the $100k bond but I think you may find the answer by checking registered agent Alan Collett's answer to the thread below

http://britishexpats.com/forum/showt...t=100+000+bond

Hope this helps

Hi Helen and Cliff

Having been in your position almost two months ago I can confirm that lodging the bond is relatively straight forward. There is further information on the following thread.

Best of luck

Helen&cliff,

Its pretty straightforward really - have a look at your Bank's website for
details on sending money abroad.

Ours is Royal Bank of Scotland - I went to the branch, filled out the form
with Oz bank details supplied by SAFA (my chosen investment fund) and the
clerk "booked a rate" with their international office i.e. because it is a
fairly significant sum a slightly better than the bank's standard exchange
rate may be possible. (this bit saved me nearly £2000!)

It cost around £40 though.

Good Luck!

I would add to this, don't use 'foreign exchange brokers', although
they may offer better rates than the banks. You have no protection
if they go bust and your money disappears in transit, as happened with
Exchange Direct clients in December 2001.
