Well in spite of being assured I would have all my forms and test results back from the Doc this week, I've now got to wait till the middle of NEXT week! And for this we pay them!!!
So while I'm sitting here chewing my nails I thought I'd ask - how many people were actually counselled before they were given the blood test for HIV? I know people whop have had an HIV test for reasons other than emigration, and they have all had thorough counselling, before and after the test, regardless of the result. Reassured by the mention of counsellng on the medical form I went for my test this week and the nurse said "You know why we're taking your blood don't you?" Stuck a needle in my arm, told me I could go, and that was that! As for collecting the result, the Doc said they will give me a copy of the slip with the result on and all I have to do is ask at reception! When you consider what a traumatic experience it would be if the test was positive, this doesn't quite seem good enough "counselling".
Anyone got any thoughts or similar experiences?
