Best suburbs in Brisbane

Can anybody advise me as to the best suburbs in Brisbane. We are
looking at buying a house up to 500,000 australian dollars. Our
requirements would be close to good schools, public transport shops
etc. Basically a good area to raise a family. Thanks in advance for
any info.

We live in Ormiston 'Bayside', and love the area. It's close to good private and state schools, and being on the bay has great breezes to keep you cool.
We are walking distance from the rail and only 5-10 minutes to major shopping centres.
You will be able to get a decent house (4bed on a 700sq block) for around $400k-$450k.

The question is impossible to answer really without knowing more about
the person's preferences. Many Brisbane suburbs fit the requirements
he/she stated.

Distance from the city might be a concern... the 45 minute commute from
the Bayside seems long to me (But I live in Paddington so it would).

Also does he/she want to live in a Kath&Kim suburb or do they prefer a
more traditional area?

Everyone is Brisbane is biased toward their own area so I advise the
original poster to set aside the time to have a look for themselves.
