Will IT job market situation affect PR application?
Hi,
I am applying for a 139 PR visa as a computer support technician.
I will have enough money left over after I buy a house in Australia to live on the interest permanently.
I dont intend looking for a job in IT for a few years if at all.
Will the lack of jobs in IT affect DIMIA's decision in granting my PR visa?
Phil.

Mostly not.... but you never know. As long as you are not depending on the MODL points, you should be safe.
I am also in IT and I am moving to Aus soon..... wish I had the money u got so that I can relax
Good luck

You're either extremely frugal, have no idea about the housing markets in
areas like Melbourne and Sydney, or plan to live in an area where you
haven't a prayer of finding a job in IT anyway.
Wish I was in that situation.
Good luck!

139 subclass
The subclass 139 visa is not points tested. So, losing MODL points, if you claimed them, will not affect your application.
Your application will be assessed based on the time of application and time of decision criteria, which means, if you have satisfied all the requirements when you lodged the application, your application will be decided. This would not hinge on the market conditions prevailing at the time your application is decided.

I am looking to live somewhere between Caboolture / Nambour, 12 - 20 miles inland. I am not worried about commuting, and intend to spend $250,000 to $450,000 on a house. There are some nice ones on the internet in that area. Probably be a diferent story when we finally get there.

Phil,
Are those for auction or sale? One thing that is really "unlikeable" about
Australia is the "system" of auctions to sell houses.
The more we read about it, the more it seems to be a hugely corrupt system
designed to fill the pockets of real estate agents. The result is that
houses in desirable areas will be artificially inflated in price and you
have to plan on spending 20% more than the listed auction price.
We're hoping to bring about AUD200-250K in equity along, but if at all
possible we'll try to find a house that is sold, not auctioned. If we
can...

Hi,
They are for sale.
After watching the programs on home and leisure about Australian house sales I would steer clear of auctions (okshuns!) except maybe as a seller.
