Default Is it bad practice to contact DIAC directly when using an immi consultant?

I'm impatient!

I have been offered a job in Oz so applying on a 457 visa.

My company have employed an immigration consultant, who lodged our application online. I have been checking the status online and no change, our application was lodged nearly 3 months ago I have been in touch with consultant who advises that as application is still within the advised timeline of 4 months not to worry.

I've noticed a few people have had success after contacting DIAC directly, but i'm reluctant to do this as concerned it will not go down well with either DIAC or consultant.

Any advice appreciated

If your application was lodged through an agent then DIAC cannot give you any information about the application. Your agent would have been listed on the form 956 that you signed as the contact. The only way they can speak to you or anyone else is for you to send them a new form 956 cancelling your agent as the contact and naming yourself.
