on second thought, I think these occpations are still available for upcoming SMP's. They are only dead for old school state sponsorship as stated clearly on their official web page.

Yes they will be on SMP but there won't be any new applicants! Meaning that all quota has been filled. So, new applicants should wait till next financial year

I don't see the problem. South Australia opened up certain Schedule 3 occupations for state sponsorship, received a great wad of applications and reached their planning levels for those occupations in the current program year. Instead of stringing people along they've closed applications for those occupations. It may affect people who had pre-July ACS skills assessments but my guess is that they've taken into account those who they had previously sponsored in determining their planning levels.
FWIW this is going to be how all the states have to manage their quotas, right down to the last nurse, engineer, architect or whatever.
Cheers,
George Lombard

Also, as someone else said, there are likely not a lot of job opportunities in SA for most of those occupations on that list anyway.

At this rate, chances of winning the lottery seem higher than getting either state sponsorship or indeed a visa grant any time in this decade. Luck can turn at the flip of a coin. There will be more twists and turns down the track. It will be one hell of a ride. So hold on to the edge of your seats. Some of it will make a few of us jump with joy while the majority of us will be left in tears with a broken heart and a shattered dream.

Post july 2010 if someone applies under SMP 176 visa and once the state target reaches, he/she will not be considered under prio3 processing (sched3). This is going to be tricky for the SMP applicants..
