Baby born after PR visa!! Now What??!
Hi,
My wife and I made our first visit to Australia last year to evidence our PR visas.
Currently we live in USA and our son just born this week. Should we apply for "change of circumstance" now to notify DIMIA? If so, within how many days from the day of birth we need to send the "change of circumstance".
We understand that we need to sponser PR for our new born. Since I am not planning to move to Australia for atleast 1 more year, can I apply for his PR visa later?
Thanks a lot for your time and help.

No - baby born after validation is not a change of circumstance for DIMIA.

Yes - as long as the rules don't change of course. And you are lucky
because since 1 Nov 2003 you no longer need to be 'usually resident' in
Australia to sponsor for a Dependent Child visa.
About 9 months before you want to move to Australia, you should apply to
the Australian Embassy in Washington (if still in the US, otherwise to
the DIMIA office in India) for a Child visa. I say 9 months because the
child will need to do a medical and will have to make its first entry to
Australia within the validity of this medical (normally 12 months but
possibly less).
Look at the information on the DIMIA site and Australian Embassy site,

There's nothing stopping you from applying for your child's visa when it's nearer to the time you intend to move to Australia. On the other hand, there is nothing stopping you from applying for your child's visa now either.
