Just a quick question,
the app forms have a section for agreeing to be notified by electronic means, i.e
fax/e-mail. Has anyone ever been contacted in this way?

We have been contacted by email a couple of times now by the STNI scheme.
It's a great way of faster communication and also with a printer it means that you can print off any forms or other information that you might get sent. (Better than waiting a week for the post)
I would say go for it, it can only help!

Our initial case officer in Adelaide would not use e-mail point blank (even though we completed the part on the form asking for this contact information). However, when we got a new guy looking into the applicaiton he was happy to use e-mail. Much quicker and prevents all the "has it got lost in the post" fears (of course it brings in new fears of its own!). We even got notified of pre grant by e-mail whilst on holiday...Fill it in is my advice.

I've been contacted by email several times, this can be very useful.
My immigration officer told me that if I wanted to tell her something, I could send an email to the DIMIA, mentionning her name either in the subject or in the email itself.
I guess you can do the same.
