Hello everybody,

I feel that my post doesn't *really* belong in this thread, but, I also belong to the April 2008 applicants list, and hence I take the liberty to post here.

A little about my case: 2 years of study in Australia. Applied on 16th April 2008, front-loaded everything - Medicals included.

I got my PR, finally, on the 2nd Oct.

I came across this wonderful forum a couple of weeks back, and visiting this thread made me feel better and optimistic and that's precisely the reason why I wanted to share my happiness to one and all on this forum, so that all you guys out there don't give up hope. Things are looking up, finally. :-)

A snippet from the email.
" Independent (VB 885) visa lodged on 16 April 2008 with the Adelaide Skilled Processing Centre (ASPC)."

Thanks

So Tiger does 3 weeks seem to be a standard processing time for the medicals once they get to Sydney?
I left ours as late as I thought was reasonable which went OK but I have an appointment with my specialist on Monday (6th - my 6 month from application date anniversary) so he can do a letter giving my prognosis to add to the medicals info before it goes.
Allowing time for it to get there then wait to be processed makes it early November.

If this is the case I may get my visa granted while I am on holiday!!

We go to Jamaica on 6th November, a holiday we have considered cancelling/changing to a reccie trip/just going on anyway, many many times since we booked it in January. The way I look at it is. I'm stressed, OH is stressed, the CO or visa isn't going to happen any quicker if we are here or not and we have earned this holiday so we will earn our visa while getting a tan and I can hand in my 3 month notice to work when I get back

Charlene -

I was under the impression that "regular" processing time is 2 weeks for MEDS. But my experience is different. I also know 1 person who had theirs processed in 3 days....and another person who had a 4 week processing time. So it just depends.....

I think your plan is a good one! I say go for the holiday!! There have been many cases in recent months where it's the "key" to the VISA - people go on holiday and get the VISA!!!

I say - go on holiday - you deserve it and you planned it. You might not get the chance to do it again.

Wow, its amazing how fast things have turned around during the last few days of the week. First couple of days were so slow that I thought DIAC had gone into another hybernation like may-june of this year. If it goes at this pace, no one will be left behind for long. Hope things move a bit faster for HR countries as well.

Public Holiday in OZ...Yippee one less day to process some .

Sorry feeling a bit down no moment at all on my April 175 application( and we front loaded with police checks and meds). I've become quite a cynic since we started the application process. I try and look on the bight side but living in this wet cold and PC country gets me down!

I think we all have days like that and then it passes. I find doing something towards progressing the move to Oz helps....even if it's a little thing like researching neighbourhoods in which to live.

We've got our meds this afternoon - so a mix of feeling positive about moving the Visa forward and trepidation at what they might say!

You'll be fine, Chas! It's not that bad!!

It's waiting for them to be processed through HOC that's the tough part!

I agree about doing something towards getting to OZ. It helps. Plus there's so much to do especially on the packing/sorting side.
