Recce trip to Sydney last week in March / first week in April. Then set off on 28 July, but travelling en route and arrive in Sydney end of September. Still feels a long way off but with the recce trip, I think it will come around very quickly.
Trying not to wish time away here, but at the same time, want to start adventure!
So, what do you regret packing / shipping? Is there is anything you thought you'd need but seems silly now that you're there?

That is great news.....
It does take a while to sink in.
Enjoy the celebrations.

Well done! Perhaps the next taker to be in charge of the unofficial visa update will not have to wait too long either!

Now celebrate big style!!

We will head for Sydney in late March for validation. I will be watchful of the job market before making the final move. Today in Sydney Morning Herald they said more bankers are considering garbage collection as a transitionary profession.

Apart from that it has been great buying new again - manage to buy things & furniture that we actually wanted...even after 20 years of marriage!

Hi Dodge here....We sold everything (apart from 8 boxes of personal stuff coming later), the only thing I wish I had bought is a laptop, for those early days, so that I could have used the internet access at the hotel we stayed at to get things done e.g home rental, Tax file Number, Google maps, contacting Uk, online Oz banking etc.....

We have similar plans of arrival in sydney in Sept. I can't quite work out how I will be able to not wish the whole year away but then think that as summer is coming arriving in winter may not be that great even in Australia (previous experinece!). So we have planned loads of things to do over the next 9 months and planning to vist loads of people and places.
I am really excited about clensing all our lives of things too and starting afresh. So that is why I am working for 9 months so we can buy the new stuff with the money I am saving now.
Only hope my husband can get a job over there as recession is starting to bite - perhaps it just means house prices will fall and we can get a bargin of a home - wishful thinking huh1

We have enjoyed being here for 9 weeks and not working though - had quality time with the children and discovered Australia together!!
