We took risk and booked flight. The scenario is you may have to book return though as immi might not let you in on a one way on a visitors visa if you dont get visa in time.
Check if flight is transferable and then at least if you book somthing you feel your almost there and IF visa dosnt come you can move flight.(if you get 1 way)
I predict visa for you next week daunted there lets hope my prediction works

Its a lot of money to loose if the visa doesnt arrive in time.

If singapore let you book a transferable ticket (idont think they charge to move date) GET IT BOOKED i reckon you will feel things are moving on and you can start looking in other directions like looking at houses to rent and buying furniture or stuff off ebay or cars ect.
Im only saying it because i booked my tickets a few weeks ago and now i have my visa so for me it worked

i would second that, we needed a date that we had to work everthing else around, im sure you willl have your visa before the end of the year, so i dont think that would be a problem

Thats upto you chick, but if you have kids (which i dont) maybe your family will want to spend one last xmas with them. If you can fly 30th dec that may be better and you can let your new life in oz through the door on new years eve at midnight.
