Default Applying for a skilled migration visa while in Oz on a holiday visa.

Is it possible to go to Oz on a holiday visa then apply while there for a skilled migration visa?

Also if I was in Oz on a holiday visa and secured an offer of employment/sponsorship how long would the application take?

Presuming you dont get turned around at the Airport for either of the breaches of you "holiday" visa and assuming you dont have an 8503 no further stay condition...its possible.

Time frames vary from 24hrs for an onshore decision ready 457 application to 12-18 months for a GSM application (and as you come on a tourist visa you cant work during that period so bring lots of cash).

Why dont you just apply for the correct visa in the first place ?

cheers

bear in mind when you apply they will bridge you on your holiday visa, which means no work or study rights if you have kids, and the visa could take anywhere from 9/18 months or longer to be granted.
so if you can financially support yourself whilst you wait then its possible, or go home then apply.
