Katie,

You need to be a little more specific. What type of visa are you applying for?

When we applied for our skilled independent visas we sent certified copies of our passports.

If / when you receive notification that you have been granted your visa you then either take it to AHC and have the visa placed in your passport.

Or you post it to them. This, I believe, takes about 5 days for processing.

Cheers
Karl.

Katie,

We generally don't advise clients to send through passports with a visa application unless the application is very simple and likely to come through within a couple of weeks (eg working holiday visa or tourist visa).

Otherwise, sending certified copies of the passports would be preferable.

Default Applications and passports

The visa I am applying for is the 5 year temporary visa, NZ citizen family unit, de facto, subclass 461 form 170. The form asks that a passport for each application is sent with the paperwork.
It does seem strange since the application is pretty straight forward as opposed to PR.

Do you know of anyone who has applied for the above, I haven't been able to find any personal stories for this particular visa.
