AOS bond - Confused
 

OK, I know you are all probably gonna sigh when you hear thsi one - but "AOS BOnd"??? WHat is it, who has to pay it - HELP!

Assurance of Support Bond.

Two types, Required and I believe Discretionary. The second MAY be asked for, the first is a definite yes.

The sponsor pays it. Ours for example was $14000 plus $200 for the bank to arrange it. The bond pays interest and in our case matures after ten years. I hope to be around then.........

I think technically the bond belongs to the sponsor, although I guess most migrants send the cash out.

There is such a thing as a discretionary assurance of support, but no
bond is needed in this case.

The figures you quoted are for the Contributory Parent visa, regular
bonds are much less and normal maturity is 2 years.
