They open 9am til 4pm and 9am to 1pm on Wednesday. Hope this helps.

Theres another half hour for Adelaide - they're open from 10.30pm UK time currently.

I've phoned to DIAC twice this month and could successfully talk to the operator. He will ask for your file reference number, your name & date of birth to identification purpose.
Make sure that you are not represented by an agent otherwise he will refuse to talk to you about your case. The first call I got the important message about my medical and the last call he told me that a final result of visa application would be heard next week.
