We are with an Agent so, Looky, I actually have no idea of the form, we filed out all our details on a "client information" basis and he completed our form on the basis of the information given. I do know that the nomination and the visa application were lodged together ... I would think they will process the nomination first and then the visa app as there would be no visa app unless the nomination has been approved......

As you are not using an Agent I would suggest you give the department (where you are lodging) a call and explain your confusion ... I believe they should be quite helpful ....

Lodged 12 weeks - and still nothing .... :curse:

If only I could just get to that lodging stage........................

I found out today that my nomination was only sent on 16/9 not 8/9 as they said originally so gonna have to wait another week for DIAC to acknowledge receipt. The chance I will have my visa granted before I travel on 30th November are just slipping slowy away.....................................

Know the feeling Ponyrama - We found out this week there was a problem (as far as HR was concerned) with the labout testing (advertising) the RCB want. Not sure what the prob was and being told it's sorted. We'll see

Feel like a mushroom - kept in the dark and fed ****. The agent told us in simple plain english they already had everything. So some-one is wrong/lying.

Still waiting on the contract being sent to OH for signing. We have exactly 42 days left on current visa so we must have got through rcb and be lodged by then. Otherwise I am urgently looking for shipping firms and flights!

I've had a major sense of humour failure this week. Kids are avoiding me as is the OH - so there is some benefit HA HA

yeah theres the ENS as well.

RSMS is only for regional areas. needs a 2 yr commitment from employer, doesn't need skills assessment but does go through a regional body before DIAC. Visa can (theoretically) be revoked if employee leaves before 2 years if they haven't made a genuine attempt at the 2 years

ENS is for anywhere, needs a skills assement (or loads of $$$$ in salary or 2 years in situ before sponsoring) and needs a 3 yr commitment at the outset but no revoking can be done if you leave early.

When are they doing it? Takes about 3-5 months I'm told. But at least you ge the 457 tax breaks and lafha til you go PR.

Now found out that whatever was sent weds wasn't what was needed. We are in reality no further forward than we were in July............ :curse::curse::curse::curse:

OH 's boss is promising to sort HR on monday but somehow I'm not inclined to believe anything now til i see it.

I'm even starting to question do I really want to be here that much? Well I think i do but I am more homesick for my family than ever and my new friends are just that new and not the old ones I felt so safe with.

We haven't done anywhere near as much sightseeing and travelling as I thought we would in this first year. It's been about settling in. If I'd really believed it was just a year we'dve done it so much differently. But then maybe I'dve felt more inclined to give up thinking at least I'd seen some of Aus....

Looky why are you doing both?

(Not criticising as we may end up doing 175 and 475 if this rsms keeps going wrong)

The 857 enables me to get PR faster so my medicals+police certs will still be valid (hopefully) for the grant of a 857. I had the full medicals and all police certs done earlier this year in anticipation of a PR application.

At the moment I satisfy the point test for 175 but after my birthday this year I will not have enough points. Therefore I am applying 175 as a backup so that if I were to leave the employer before the 2 years is up after I get the 857 (never know what is going to happen in the near future) the 175 will enable me to still be a PR.

Its expensive but it does affect my whole life so I just have to bite my tongue and give them the $2100+ application fees as a backup. I might have to have a new medical and police check done by the time the 175 is processed.

Assuming they are both granted the latter one (175 I should think) will overide and replace the first.

From what I can tell 857 takes about 5 months and 175 onshore about 6 months so not sure if the 857 will save you anytime getting PR. Just make sure they don't come the other way round and the 857 replaces the 175.

Before committing to the rsms we did check the revoking clause and more than one source told us that as long as you make a reasonable attempt to stay or have good reasons to leave they've never experienced a visa being revoked. Still i spose it could happen.

If the RSMS doesn't come off we'll have to get a another 457 to stay in the country past October. In december we get enough points for 175 and in Feb OH is 45yrs so we lose all skilled visas after that. We also hold state sponsorship for an SIR (475) valid for applications til feb. So if we want any backup we have to submit 2 applications PR and temp route to PR

I looked through the immigration site, there aren't any onshore version of 175. Even if I apply for 175 onshore it will be treated as offshore application (have to leave Australia for it to be granted). The average time for 175 is 12months for low risk country.

Have a look here http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/gener...htm#processing

Its 7 months if your visa can be granted onshore, 175 can only be granted offshore.
