Default Anyone applied while in Australia ?

To anyone that has applied for migration while in australia: when you have all the paperwork done, meds etc and you phone dimia for an interview, how long is the wait for an interview ?

sorry should have mentioned spouse.
Im married to on oz and have 3 yr old oz born son. been in relationship 6 years and Im only here on ETA

How long you wait for an interview depends on how busy the office is.


Whatever you do, do *not* let your stay on an ETA expire before applying for the spouse visa. You *must* apply while still legal.

If they haven't got an interview available before then, you must lodge the application anyway and do the interview later on.

thanks for that. eta is good until next july but my 3 months is up soon. so I best get it in soon !

The three months of your stay is what they look at. There is no flexibility (even a day will leave you in a complete mess - others have found out the hard way).


And don't leave it until the last minute either. You don't want some glitch preventing you from lodging (eg DIMIA office closed for the afternoon) - they will not be sympathetic.
