Any idea of timeline with RSMS?
Hubby has had offer of sponsorship and employer has had back RCB advice from state government. Our agent has now submitted employer nomination to DIAC for approval on behalf of employer, but how long will it take to get any kind of acknowledgement of this from them? Can anyone share any experience of this since Skill Select?
Thanks

Re: Any idea of timeline with RSMS?
There is a HUGE backlog of rsms applications.
Apparently they are telling anyone who applied at the end of June that it will be 3-5 months for drc cases, and 9-12 months for normal ones. And as you applied later I would guess these times would apply to you too.

Wow, that doesn't make for good reading! What are 'drc' cases? His employer wants him out there by Christmas - how to break the news?!

That said, when should we at least get acknowledgement of the employer nomination? And what about managing employer expectations - how does this help an employer to fill a vacancy in an area where there are skills shortages - they may not be prepared to wait - what then?

Drc is decission ready, only agents can send these in, and it is where everything is there from the start. I did hear that they might scrap that after 1st of July, but I'm not sure if they did.
If the employer isn't prepared to wait then they didn't really need the person that badly (especially if they find an Aussie to fill the job).
The 457 visa is a quicker way of getting people out while waiting.
It does seem to be that the job someone is being sponsored for makes a bit of a difference to the processing times, you could be lucky, just don't rely on it.
Even before the changes the advertised times were 5-8 months for this visa.

I was advised waiting times of 6-8 months, but my application was approved within 52 days of lodgment. This is all before skill select and eoi though.

Is there any difference to the priority given to those who already are in Australia on a 457 visa, for instance. We are not but just wondered if this is a factor? Just feel so despondent given the extent of the proposed timeline, especially given that my OH's sponsoring employer needs him there more urgently!

Apparently not, but in reality who knows. There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to who gets their visas when.
If the employer needs you sooner then they would have to sponsor for the 457 first just to get you out.

Have spoken to DIAC yesterday - they think we will have a CO in January......that would make us around the 7 month mark.

Re: Any idea of timeline with RSMS?
My hubby's prospective employer has today had acknowledgement of a valid employer nomination which is great news. Just hope that with RSMS having the highest priority as far as visas go, that we're not waiting too long before being assigned a CO. Employer desperate to fill position with my OH because he can't find anyone suitable locally - he's "chomping at the bit". Good luck to everyone!
