the ALL NEW SPARKLY contributory parents visa thread!!!

Re: the ALL NEW SPARKLY contributory parents visa thread!!!
hi - has anyone in the CPV application process been given a case officer in the last few weeks? If so - what was the date of your original application?
I understand that the POPC is still processing CPV paperwork although they've put a hold on actually issuing the CPV's - so I'm just looking for a rough idea which month they are up to.
Thanks

Re: the ALL NEW SPARKLY contributory parents visa thread!!!
HI all, I'm new to this thread, but was hoping someone may be able to offer some advice. I have 136 (permanent resident visa), granted in November 2007. My OH and I are planning on moving to Adelaide in January 2009, once our house is built there. I then want to sponsor my Mum on a CPV and have read that we need to be settled for 2 years
Having read much of this thread it looks like some people sponsor their parents in less time - how soon can you proove you are settled to meet DIAC requirements? Obviously with the wait for the visa looking at being at least a year we are keen to start the process ASAP
Thanks for any help offered!

Early January we were about to be asked to pay our last payment to get granted our visa when a hold was put on all of them, prob till 1st July.
Em76 - AS you ar a permanent Resident you would still need to be "settled" and the DIAC class "Settled" as two years in Australia, regardless of the fact that you are having a house built - you obviously wont be living out there till 2009 so if I have got this right your Mum will not be able to apply till 2011 when you have been there for two years.
I am sure someone will correct what I have said if I have given you the wrong information.
Our Daughter went on a 457 visa in Feb 2005 and we was not able to apply until Feb 07 when she had been there for two years and during the second year she got her PR as well.
Best wishes

Hi Glorianic - my mum has had a couple of hip replacements (first one 15 years ago and another (same hip) 2 years ago) - the migration agent told us knee/hip replacements shouldn't be a problem for the medical for the CPV - unless there are ongoing problems currently requiring treatment. He recommended taking a recent hip xray and medical report from the hip specialist to the migration medical - to confirm it was not an ongoing problem. She hasn't yet had her medical though (waiting for a case officer) so we haven't put this advice to the test.
Has anyone else applying for a CPV had hip/knee replacements and had any problem with medicals?

I was just about to pay my 2nd vac for my cpv the day before it was halted, so you can guess how gutted I am at the moment. Thats another 6 months with my life on hold and even less time to sell the house.
Its not recommended to sell house till visa is granted and that is what we are intending to do. We cannot afford to make a validation trip then come back to sell house so it has to be sold before we go in mid November as that is when our year is up or leave it with agents to sell.
That's if the visas do not start up again till July.

I had a total knee replacement about 7 years ago and an ankle stability op about 5 years ago and just took my consultants letters with me to meds saying that everything went ok and he signed me off.
Meds passed ok. Was worried also about my high blood pressure so I just paid £98 to have a 24 hour monitor put on by my gp and took the readings along to meds as well - blood pressure on day of meds was below the required limit and good but the Panel Doc still took all letters. Bett er to go prepared than have to go back and get letters later.
Good Luck to all those waiting.

I asked my agent yesterday about this and this is his reply "Case officers are still working on files to make them decision ready, but there are no grants being made until 1 July."
So we will have to keep our fingers crossed. Ourt acknowledement was 16th August any more of you about this time waiting.

We were acknowledged in Feb 07, CO in November, meds/police checks sent Nov, cleared Dec, AOS paid Dec 07 and was about to pay 2nd vac when they were stopped, so now the wait...............
At least you have 3 more months than us in which to validate your visa, here's hoping we get an extension to allow us to be able to sell house before we go as house will not go up for sale till we get our visa as advised by Agents and CO's.
Good luck with the waiting
