1. I do not have any formal qualification nor IT related qualification eg
CNE, MSCE. I do have more that 10 years of practical experience as a Network
and Support Manager for a major accounting firm. Do I realistically have a
chance of obtaining a positive skills assessment from ACS?
2. I am required to complete an Application for Skills Assessment together
with a Recognition of Prior Learning form which costs A$350 and A$400
respectively. Must I enclose A$750 or A$400.
Your comments will be much appreciated.

R,
Given that you have 10 years of work experience in IT, you may well have a reasonable chance of applying for RPL through the ACS. This will require you to meet the following criteria:
- Have equivalent knowledge to a holder of a diploma in IT through independent learning and on-the-job training
- Have 6 years of work experience in IT
Assuming the ACS gives you credit for all your work experience in IT, the deeming date would be approximately 6 years after you started working in IT. Hopefully, you will then have 4 years of work experience after the deeming date which would be considered by DIMIA.
There is a fair bit of work involved to make a good RPL application, but it certainly is possible to get the RPL through. So far, we have not had any refusals of the RPL applications we have submitted to the ACS.
The application fee is A$400, not A$750. Note that you need to complete both the RPL form and the PASA form. I don't know why, as there is considerable overlap in the information between the two.
Hope this helps,
