Default ACS assessment - MODL

Hi,

My ACS assessment is successful but the letter doesn't mention anything about MODL although I have opted to be assessed for MODL.

If they have evaluated but did not find a candidate suitable for MODL, do they mention anything about it on the letter? That is if there is no mention of that on the letter, how do we know whether they found the app not suitable for MODL or did not assess it for MODL?

thanks,
V

Vasantha,

If the ACS considers you to have skills in an MODL area, then they will indicate this in the letter.

The letter will probably state something like:

"based on the provided certified documentation it is my opinion that the applicant has 12 months work experience in XXX"

It is possible that the ACS did not consider the matter of MODL in your case. It would be worth following up with the ACS to see if they will look at giving you the MODL classification. They only answer the phone between 9:30 and 11:30 Australian Eastern Standard Time....

Hope this helps.

If you believe that you do qualify for MODL, and you submitted all the necessary documentation required for it, then you should follow up with ACS and enquire as to their reasons why they did not give you MODL. If you are not eligible, they will be able to tell you why.

I had the same problem, and on enquiry found that they had overlooked the MODL request on my application form. They then rectified that.
Good luck

V

The same thing happened to me.

I sent a very polite and detailed email describing the situation to ACS,
emphazing how critical those 5 points were for me.

An officer replied and said it will be resent.

I got the second letter (with MODL) in a week or so.

Cheers

Thanks Mark, baloo and Chow. I will send them an email and perhaps, they will reconsider.

By the way, is email the best approach?

thanks,
V

When I emailed I only got the standard response as a reply.... after a few emails back & forth, and not getting anywhere, I decided to phone & speak to someone who could actually look into the situation further.

Try emailing first & see if you get anywhere, but if that doesn't get you anywhere after a few days or replies, then I'd suggest you phone.

What is the email address you used? Which number did you call, if that's not too much trouble for you?

thanks,
V

Is there something on the letter? That's where I would have looked first. If not, then look up the details on the ACS website.
Sorry - don't have my documents at hand at the moment to check.

Vasantha,

I would suggest that you call or send a fax rather than email.

The ACS must receive thousands of emails a week, and I would be surprised if you had a positive result from emailing.

In addition, you only have a couple of weeks after the assessment comes back to get the decision reviewed, so you can't afford to waste time.

Contact details for the ACS:
Phone: +612 9299 3666
Fax: +612 9299 3997
